Best Beverage You Missed Out On
Drinking Vinegars at Izakaya Ramen

If you missed out on trying one of the housemade drinking vinegars before Izakaya Hiro/Ramen closed — well, then that sucks for you. General Manager Jacob Fuhr made the sweet-and-tangy traditional Japanese non-alcoholic beverage from locally sourced produce. Fuhr was inspired by the pouches of drinking vinegar he found for sale at H&L Asian Market, and Charlestonians can still get the drink there and at FIG (who offers the national brand Som on their menu). But Fuhr’s version was as fresh as you could get, with flavors like peach and cherry jalapeño, and they were often mixed into Izakaya’s craft cocktails.
